Hello everyone,

I am so happy to be the winner of August  challenge and excited for designing  at MMA this month.

I absolutely love this theme ,so i am really happy when i saw the mood board.Here is what I made...

Here are the steps for making the project with a few pictures...

1. I have used 6"x 6" canvas for this project. First I have used artistic gesso to prime my canvas.

2. Once the gesso is dried, I have used little birdie fiber texture paste to give wave effect on the top and bottom part of the canvas. 

3. When the texture paste dried completely, I pasted the wooden frame with little birdie heavy gesso.

4. I have used ocean mist and green colored alcohol splash to give ocean effect. Applied darker color at the edges of the wooden frame just to give deapth to the project.

4. Embalished the frame with some pearls , anchors, chips and dolphin as I want. Applied ocean mist alcohol splash through brush over the embalishments and also applied orange colored splash color for few embalishments.

5. Once the colors are dried completely addedd the sentiments which goes well with the theme.

September Challenge Inspiration - DT Monika Shukla

This month our moodboard was suggested by our DT Monika Shukla and she will be choosing the winner for the month as well ...

She created this beautiful moodboard "Seas The Day" and today she is here with a tutorial to inspire you all with her amazing creativity...

Hello lovelies!! 

Here I am Monika Shukla with my DT inspiration for this month challenge at our Mixed Media Academy blog.  This month theme is “Seas The Day” proposed by me, which is filled with wonderful colours. For me the sea never seems to lose its special touch. The soft sand and rolling waves instantly make us forget about all of our worries and give us immense pleasure. It’s no surprise summer is everyone’s favorite time of the year. I love picking sea shells at the beach; these things are full of beauty. I absolutely love using sea shells while creating sea theme art pieces. 

So here I am going to share two altered pieces using mixed media techniques.

Step by step process:

·         First choose a simple cardboard box and cover it with white gesso and add some textures using different type stencils and let it dry.

·         Spray some water and add lovely shades of Lindy’s magical shakers (Guten Tag Teal, Cowabunga Copper, Bratwurst Brown). Then dry it with heat gun.

·         After drying do some random stamping, add some modeling paste to create more textures on the background. Dry it again.

·         Now use different type of sea shells along with clay elements and cheese cloth. Add mini and mega art stones randomly using Prima 3D gloss gel.

·         Use Finnabair acrylic paints – Opal Magic Blue, Vintage Rose and White Pearl to colour the composition. Again dry it completely.

·         Add some more sea shells and art stones using Prima 3D Gloss gel and Dry it.

·         Add Tim Holtz paper dolls to finish both pieces.

Hello everyone,

I am so happy to be guest designing  at MMA this month.

I absolutely love creating sea theme projects,so i am excited when i saw the mood board.Here is what I made...

I altered a wooden boat shape and turned it into a home decor piece.I treated the base with few coats of white gesso,once it dried applied crackle paste randomly in few places and added texture paste through bubble stencils.Once everything is set,i used sprays in few blue and teal shades.For embellishing i added lots of flowers,fussy cut elements,natural sea shells and net.For the finishing touch i added art stones in different sizes and glitters.

We have a beautiful moodboard this month which is proposed by our DT Member Monika Tripathy Shukla.

Let's See what our team created 

 Sea theme always inspires me and I decided to alter this hoop and focus on the Lighthouse .I feel that we’re all lighthouses, and my job is to shine my light as brightly as I can in the darkness and navigate myself in correct direction...

 The sea always excites my soul! And every time I do a marine project, I want to convey such a diverse and changeable nature of the sea. This time I prepared a layout for your inspiration. From the mood board, I took the color combination and marine mood to share with you. The background here is made completely from scratch on a piece of watercolor paper. I used Finnabair gesso, paints and waxes. The multi-layer composition is complemented by Fantasy cutting dies and Spring Scrap snippets.
Let your inspiration be as deep as the sea! 

Certainly you are still at sea and I want to inspire you with a work that smells of sea! I have used so many underwater elements and the word "timeless" 
Moodboard is fantastic this month, rich of ideas to tell us your summer! What do you think?

The deep blue Sea can drift away things while sailing and I altered an Anchor which is the strength that keeps our feet grounded and make our spirits fly...  

Sometimes when the waves brings you a message in a bottle from the depths of the sea! A bottle, lost and forgotten, encrusted with layers of sand, sea bed, crystals and crustaceans, you feel lucky to "seas" the day!!!

See the Seahorse in the Sea... It reminds us to see the bigger picture around us and be beautiful in your own way...

My September inspiration from the moodboard ~ it’s summer here and perfect time for beach , so here I am presenting my version of sea!! Well I am using this very special seashell from our first vacation so it’s so precious shell for me!! I hope this project inspire you to create beautiful your Version of sea on your canvas!!

I have altered a Cloth tag in Anchor shape ( which is of Card Board material ) and created a Jewellery Necklace from It !!! Which I can use it and even wear on my beach holidays... Isn't that sounds great. Do join us for a wonderful challenge this month !!! I am inspired by its colour and a theme of beach

When the sun melts in the sea... That's my favorite time of the day. I love watching sunset at the beach and collecting sea shells is my favorite thing 😍
