Hi friends!

Thanks a lot to Priya for inviting me to be a Guest Designer this month. The gorgeous colours & theme of the March Moodboard inspired me to create a Vintage Art Journal Page titled "Silent Moment". 

Vintage Art Journal Page- Silent Moment

Process:

1. Applied heavy white gesso to the art journal page to prepare it for mixed media work.

2. Added shading to the background using distress crayons.

3. To add interest to the background, adhered tissue papers, did background stamping using archival inks and stenciling using modelling paste. 

4. Created white, grey and purple ink splatter on the background. 

5. Next, worked on the main composition. To create the paper layers, painted multiple pieces of cardstock with different shades of purple and grey inks and paints. I used Lindy's Gang sprays, CrafTangles Chalk Paints and Dina Wakley's Acrylic Paints. Created a distressed look on some of the papers and did stamping on them. Then tore these coloured papers.  

6. Collected all the elements for layering (vintage photo, laces, gauze, torn pieces of painted paper, word stickers & tissue papers. Layered everything to create a harmonious composition, then adhered it all down using a strong glue. 

7. Next, added a little bit of stencilling on the main composition using modelling paste and added some glitter paste to some of the areas for a little shine.

8. In the end, created more shading in the background using the distress crayons and added white acrylic ink splatters.

Hello Crafty Souls...

Welcome to March Challenge at Mixed Media Academy
This month we challenge you to express "SILENCE" through your projects. Let us know what you feel about Silence and how soothing it can be. Is it a conflict or an answer to all your questions???
Use a BLACK & WHITE picture in your project and colours from the Palette. Create an artwork that speaks volumes without uttering a single word.

Our Design Team has come up with some amazing inspirations

It was very hard topic for me. Not because the color palette or requirement to use a white-black photo. It was difficult to find the right picture. I choose a photo of little girl at II world war (during or after). She is sitting on house ruins hugging the doll. I think that there is nothing to add. Art journal is the place where I'd like to tell some story, so for me this is perfect choice. In the background I added more cracked, damaged bricks and chains. The whole is kept in grays and purple, (emerges from under the photo - a symbol of hope).

Sometimes our dreams fly away in silence. I haven't thought about politics because I don't like it at all but Brexit is something so loudly spoken that I decided to make a political art for the first time in my life. And here it is Great Britain which flies away from UE.

This month at Mixed Media Academy we are creating an artwork which speaks volumes without uttering a single word. The moodboard is so interesting with amazing colors.

I have created a mixed media layout; a layout that's silent ......without any quotes or words. But the layout still speaks; calls out a message....showcasing the journey of a girl from the dark dull side of life to a bright cheerful side of life. Depicts breaking all bonds and flying towards love, freedom n happiness. The ultimate joy of being you!
It talks through the colors, textures, elements and the transition.That's what this lovely mood board is for me!
So break free, join us in this creative challenge and show us what does your silence say! 

The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it's as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.” Silence do speak a thousand words, You have to guess what is told to you and move forward in life with a positive attitude. 

 The heroine looks out her window anxiously waiting for her beloved. She looks at the sky, it's dark except for the light from the moon just enough to shine at the flowers all bloomed by her window. My take on March Mood board.

Silence is my choice, no words only inspiration

We have such a proverb - happiness loves silence.
My project is about the transience of time, that every moment is valuable. Love and take care of your loved ones, call them more often.

This is my project for March Challenge

I was inspired by the stunning colors of March Challenge

and by the great quote.

There is a strange duality-in silence

on the one hand we yearn for it and look for it,

and on the other hand it can be awkward and create unpleasant situations.

but if we encourage silence has special power.Stopping for a moment and concentrating silence on your own can be an amazing experience.

It can be great to create for ourselves moments of fun silence, and experience the quiet with ourselves.
