Hello, I am Janja and this is the magical time of the year.
Today am I on Mixed Media Academy as guest designer for December challenge. They have beautiful moodboard for this month. With warm lights, winter blue and Christmas red colours.

https://mixedmediaacademy.blogspot.com/2019/12/december-challenge.html

For this project I decided to recycle light bulb and make an Christmas tree decoration. I  coloured my bulb with white gesso. Made some texture with gauze and 3D powder. Colored it again with gesso and added some color with Lindy's spray and Finnabair waxes. I fussy cut some images from the beautiful paper Mintay by Karola collection Home for Christmas.
I love making foamiran flowers and using them on my project.

Hope you guys like my work share and wish you all good luck who joins this month's challenge at MMA.

December Inspiation - DT Vidhi Jadeja

Hello  Crafty Souls,

Today we have our DT Vidhi Jadeja on Mixed Media Academy blog with her beautiful inspiration project with a detailed tutorial. Over to Vidhi now.

Hello Crafty friends,
How are you? Hope you are enjoying winter... Today I am here at Mixed Media Academy Challenge to share my pictorial post to inspire you for this month challenge. We have amazing mood board in December. Do join us for this month...

I love to alter old stuff in mixed media. Its fun to give them new life. Today I altered an old LED light. I love its ruff texture and round shape so thought to alter it. So lets start the procedure.

Step 1: First I just stuck a jute thread around it and gave a coat of white Gesso.

Step 2: I applied white Crackle paste through stencil and stick few laces here and there to create more interest. Add a little resin frame ,few flowers and clay molds with heavy gel and again gave a coat of white gesso.

Step 3: Added natural wood twigs and art stones with art gloss gel.

Step 4:Now its time to add colours after all beautiful textures. I used Lindy's Starburst Sprays to add colours. They gave perfect shine to my project.

Step 5:After colouring, I did dry brushing with white gesso to give perfect wintry look!

Step 6: I added white crackle paste on chipboard and sprayed again Lindy's Spray on it to get perfect look and arranged in my project as a focal point to create more interest!

And Voila its ready........
It is a simple and yet fun project to start Mixed Media for anyone!!!

Thank you,
Vidhi Jadeja

December Challenge Inspiration - DT Priyanka Srivastava

Hello Crafty Souls,

Today we have our DT Priyanka Srivastava with this month's inspiration for the challenge!
Over to Priyanka now....
Hello everyone,

I am Priyanka. Here is the month's moodboard for the December challenge.

This month, its all about Winter, snow and the lovely Christmas for all to be merry! So here is my project in which I have tried to encompass most of the essence of December. Have a look at it.

It is a very simple project and here are steps to make a similar one.

Step 1: I took a waste cardboard as a base and covered it's entire surface with black gesso.

Step 2:  I choose a decoupage papers having winter theme and tore the edges to give it a a little rustic look. I really liked the St. Clauses sleigh loaded with Christmas presents!!!! Anyone will be merry just by a look at that! I curled all the edges a little. I liked a picture of 3 little birds perched on snow clad branches of a tree and wanted to use that so I tore that from the other decoupage paper and set it a corner. I set both the papers on the base with mod podge. I gave another layer of mod podge on top of the papers too to seal them.

Step 3: I decorated the edges and curled part of the paper with mini art stones as they gave look of snow.

Step 4: I then used felt flowers from our sponsor Creative Minds to decorate the entire piece. Look how lovely they look! I used some art stones here and there with flowers too.

Step 5: Finally I used blue and red chalk paints and smeared them a little at the edges with my finger. This gave an overall blended look with the entire piece.

I hope you liked the project. Here are some close ups of it.

Hope you like my project and it will inspire you to make a beautiful one yourself. We love to see your beautiful creations! Please do enter our challenge to win amazing prize and goodies from our sponsors! Please read the guideline to make sure you entry is eligible.

Hello Crafty Souls,

Today at Mixed Media Academy we have the talented Hema VelCraft as our Guest Designer. She has made this awesome project for this month's challenge inspiration.

I'm Hema here from Bangalore and thank you for the opportunity given. I'm a self taught mixed media artist and still exploring this art and a scrapbooker like many other ladies in the industry and happy to be Guest Designing here for Mixed Media Academy blog. Here is what I made

Here's my Small bio and the rest of the details:

I love all kinds of mediums in my work. My best hobby is playing around with beautiful papers, chippies (love them), paints, textures.......shine and glitters....I love the process of creation and have been creating things since childhood - handmade, paintings, colours always attract me.  I love making my own flowers for my projects. I initially started making cards and slowly moved on making many paper craft creations like albums, tags, diy, and slowly it was mixed media which caught my attention and as a self taught mixed media person I love to play with colours, textures, mediums and create lovely creations. Its here you get more freedom to use even the smallest thing in your stash which is just lying in your box......so I love to put in all the stuff and create a magic. I love the colours on my messy hands....LOL!!  I draw inspiration from anything anywhere and would just sit and create.....that's all is shown in my work. I'm happy to be invited as Guest Designer for the month in this team with such talented ladies around!!

Project details:
  1. Primed the canvas, layered it with crackle paste and later played with colors - Lindys magicals and sprays, balanced the blending of colors on the base panel.
  2. Heat set all the chippies with Lindys EP.
  3. Fussycut paper embelishements for layering.
  4. Added diecuts for the LO with some pattern papers and also few were distressed as well.
  5. Layered all these elements with topping of some real branches, spinecone, frosting snow, stayfoam balls, frosting powder, shrink plastic for snowy effect, pompom balls and few flowers and leaves were adhered to beautify the project.

Hope you guys like my work share and wish you all good luck who joins this month's challenge at MMA.

My name is Chaitali Dekhtawala. I am a self-taught Mixed-Media Artist from Buffalo, NY. Started as a hobby...today it's a passion!
I believe art is an inspiration for everyone. It fills the mind with imagination and the heart with wonder. Being born with a love for creativity as a child, I always had a desire to put my creative ideas into beautiful art.
Eventually, I found a way to express my creativity using mixed mediums like paper, canvas, wood, fabrics, and metal trinkets with various types of paints. I fabricate different textures, adore stamping and inking, collaging and assembling to create my artworks. I love creating mixed media layouts and altering n redesigning.
Currently, I am a member of 4 Art Associations in Buffalo. I have taken part in many Art Exhibitions and Art Show in the past two years and have won awards and recognitions.
I love challenging myself; keep experimenting and learning new techniques and style with each project. I like telling a story each time through my artwork. Love sending a message across by adding quotes. I simply adore adding details to my work.
I would love to be part of your lovely team. I think it would be a great opportunity to grow, to learn and to get inspired! And, in turn inspire others to take part in MMA challenges and know more about the team and its goals.
