Hi!

My name is Jenny Andersson and I live in the north of Sweden with my husband and our 3 teenage sons. I have been a scrapbooker for more than 10 years and create in many different styles, mixed media included, love it! Happy to be invited as guest designer this month at Mixed media academy! Thanks!

This 8" canvas I created for the december challenge, using the moodboard colours. The contemplary element: shadow can be found right to the woman in white.

To make this canvas I have used paper from 7dotsstudio, then applying heavy gesso into stencils to get texture. The big letters in the background is tissue paper from Dina Wakley. Some fabric from my old kitchen curtain also found its place along with buttons, flowers and other decorations. After gluing everything on to the canvas I cowered the decorations with gesso and then sprayed with mists from 13arts. Extra shine to bright it up with wax paste and glimmer mist. The chipboard woman is embossed with white embossing powder and glued in place.

Thank you so much Jenny for a wonderful tutorial and project.  Do participate in the current challenge  and win prizes. Challenge announcement post can be found on right side bar of the blog.

Thank you for visiting.

December Guest Designer ~ Madhurima

Hello Mixed media fans,

This is Madhurima here and today I am with you guys with my third and probably the last project as special guest DT for mixed media academy.
This month's moodboard was so bright and cheerful and seeing it instantly lifts up your mood. I have created a round MDF panel in colors of coral, pink, mint and blues. As the compulsory element for this month was shadow so I have added shadows below the embellishments to add depth.

I hope I have inspired you all with my layout. Hope to see you all soon.

Thank you Madhurima for the gorgeous inspiration.
Do check out this month's challenge and participate to win awesome prizes from our sponsors. Take care and happy crafting!

  DESIGN  TEAM  INSPIRATIONS

Pinks, light blue and grey - that's the colors of our december moodboard. I used the stripes theme and bird one from the moodboard either. I made grey shadows behind the paper elements. Brighten up! Choose to shine!

Hello, my creation for December is this beautiful piece. I made a pretty pink flamingo with scrap metal (necklace), I also used many flowers and resin pieces. Then I worked with the colors of the moodboard. Thank you for this nice moodboard!

There is something beautiful about shadows.. For things to highlight.. you need shadow to carry the odds..
My pretty shadow box in pastels.. going with the theme.. have added tinge of grey around the elements to give shadow effect

The moodboard for the month of December inspired me to make a canvas. My son will give it to his teachers at a music school he attends. From the moodboard, I chose a little gray, dark /for the shadows/ and light blue. If you are interested in how I made the canvas, you can watch the video on my YouTube channel.

I'm not going to lie, this brush has me crazy with love, it is already known that with love, everything can shine and stand out, but in this case, this brush was destined to die ... after having done its duty! ... In my blog you can see the before and after too.
Honoring the hands that worked to decorate it seemed like a nice tribute ...
In the photos you can see that I made the shadows with a green that combines with the leaves, and I added glitter that makes everything stand out more ... with golden foil and litmus glitter ..
I made the lights with white gesso (which after painting everything the same pink color) I added with fluffing ...

Do you feel inspired!

Now let's move on to check what our Design Team has created

  DESIGN  TEAM  INSPIRATIONS

For this months challenge I have altered an old brush.. I was inspired by the colors of December moodboard, but instead of going completely pastels, I have incorporated light colors with black gesso to show shadows (compulsory element of this months challenge) and highlights in the project.. Hope you all like it

Hey everyone,
With new year around the corner, I am thrilled to be a part of better times that lie ahead for me.
Keeping that in mind, I created this layout with bright colors. I used the compulsory element 'shadow' in the way of casting shadow of the elements put together in the layout. Looking forward to making new memories and having good times with friends and family.
Love
J

December moodboard pictures inspired me to create mixed media art journal page. Pastel colours and flamingos are one of my favorites. This inspired me to make tropical theme with flamingos..
Flamingos are always stand for positive vibes. The brighten up situation is always 'live, laugh, love'.
This month compulsory element is 'shadow'. So I have created shadow to the flowers and flamingos which feel like there are group of flamingos & flower branches behind it.

Hola Friends,
The weather seems super bright and fun at MMA, look at the challenge theme this month, since I am not a much fan of such cold weather, its keeps my lazy…I really miss to be on a beach and have some fun in the sun !!
.Today I bring you this Mixed Media Layout to present the theme …What do u say? Do you also get the vibes? If Yes, get inspired and create something to participate in the challenge asap…
.Looking forward for your amazing makes… till the time.. you can share your thoughts in comments below about this layout
.Hope you have an amazing day ahead, don’t miss to participate in the challenge.
Happy Crafting

We all have our ups and downs in our lives. We never feel the gratitude when we reach our highs but feel depressed when are at our lows. Take everything as this too shall pass. Brighten up each day for every day has something good to offer. Just look deeply... find that happiness and hold on to it. It will lead us to our sunshine. The mood board colours were so soothing that it brightened up my mood instantly. I have to use shadow as compulsory element and I have used black and white die cuts of the same designs and pasted the black behind to give the shadow effect. Hope you like it.

In this moodboard I have made a fresh and simple medium collage mix according to the bright colors.
I ran black ink around the collage to give it more depth and create more interest.

December month challenge has come with pastel colors. And these remind me of happiness and love. I depicted the moodboard through a 12x12 layout.
Happiness is the new rich.
Inner piece is the new success
Health is new wealth.
Kindness is new cool.
Do join us for this month's challenge at MMA

I love to work with shadows. On this mixed media piece I started by painting the lower side with black gesso and the upper side with white gesso. After that I used Finnabair acrylic paints and on top I dry brushed with white gesso and white gold wax from Finnabair.

Do you feel inspired!
