Hello, creative friends! Margarita Shkludova inspires you today. I am a crafter from Belarus. I am a mixed media and scrabooking artist. I love to create in the mixed media style. I like to experiment with colors and get new interesting effects.

Thank you Priya and the MMA team for inviting me to guest design this month. I am so honored and thrilled to design alongside such a talented group of artists. 

I prepared a colorful and multi-detailed canvas for your inspiration by our wonderful mood board for July challenge - "Wanderlust". Traveling is always an interesting adventure, a lot of impressions and the discovery of the unknown! Join us in this challenge!

Wanderlust Album by DT Priya Mishra

Welcome to Our Mixed Media Challenge
"Wanderlust is a Strong desire to travel and explore the world..."

Not that I have travelled a lot, but I love travelling to different places... this is my way to refresh my soul and connect with nature.

So, this month's theme at MMA is "Wanderlust" and I made a Mixed Media Album to store all my travel memories. This moodboard was my idea and you don't have to use the colors in the mood board always, you can take any inspiration from here...

And my Favorite " Wanderlust" Quote is "Live with no excuses and Travel with no regrets"

Here's my project ... 

I made this from scratch and everything is handmade here. The album measures 14 cm*22cm and can hold  50 photos measuring 4"*4" to 6"*4" 3"*5". I used Mintay Wanderlust Papers for this album. For the front and back covers I used chipboards, metal embellishments, wooden embellishments and some fussy cut elements from the Paper pack.

Guest Designer - Cathy Frailey

Today we present to you a beautiful project made by our April Challenge winner who is also our Guest Designer for the month - Cathy Frailey

Hey everyone! I'm Cathy from West Virginia in the eastern part of the US! I'm so thrilled to be a guest designer for this month's challenge! Since my kids are out of the house, I've got time to play in my art room and create a lot of interesting pieces of art! My main style is steampunk, grungy, and vintage but I can incorporate any style. I'm totally self-taught and enjoy trying different things and being unique!

About the project

I had a DIY Mini Album from Kaisercraft and decided to turn it into a visual Wanderlust diary. What does wanderlust invoke in me? It's not only traveling and freedom. It's creativity - letting your mind wander and exploring different art mediums. I hope I've captured that in this mixed media piece!

Instructions:

Since this has multiple pages, I'll show what I did to the first page, front and back. You'll get the idea for the rest of the album!

1. I first cut pieces to size from a piece of 7Dots paper - Oil Spil - and adhered with gesso.

2. I next used plaster paste with my chosen stencil and dried with a heat gun. Then I added some color with Liquitex Acrylic Inks.

3. Lastly, I did some outlining with a black paint pen and added my sentiment. I cut this one from leftover packaging from 7Gypies!

4. For the other side, I chose a part of a building stencil to go over the paper.

5. Next, I started coloring with the inks and added a couple of 7Gypsies Architexture coins. Then I adhered my sentiment.

This kind of project lets you use up your scraps and stash! Stencils, embellishments, textiles, paper - it's fun to let your creativity wander! I hope you'll stop by to visit me and to see more pics!

Monsoon arrived here in some parts of India. It is still very hot in some other parts. As we consider the month of May and mid June the Summer holiday months, we all go on vacations and travel as kids also have vacations.
