Hi Friends,

Ani here and today I have a lovely tutorial to share with you all as the May challenge inspiration. I totally love old forgotten things and this theme is so close to my heart. So far we have received some amazing entries and I can't really wait to see what more you can create inspired by this theme.

So here's my project

Step 1: I prepared  the surface of this  metal Box with black gesso. Then made holes for a string, so I can hang it to the wall. After it dried, I added Brown Rust paste all over.

Step 2: I added 'found objects' as you can see a lot of them, glued them with gel medium
Step 3: Then I added color spray to the background and everything popped up

 Step 4: Now I added Red and yellow rust paste, and a layer of brass paint to bring the metal shine back. 
Step 5: I glued some dried moss here and there and after that i added the picture and some pieces of paper and my project is now ready...

Hello everyone I am Aangee Shah here and I am super happy to be Guest Designer here on blog today. If you know me than I am sure you will also know how much I love vintage shades and things. And this month's moodboard is just my kind of thing to work on. 

So here I have a beautiful canvas to share with you people. I have used very basic thing which any one can get in their craft room. The process is pretty quick and result is so beautiful. You can check video tutorial here.

April Guest Designer Dawid Trzepizor

My name’s Dawid. I’m from Poland and live in small village in west part of country. I’m receptionist in old palace in dendrological garden. I always loved a handicraft. I started as a child when my mom taught me a cross sticht and crochet. When I finished a studies I discovered a parchment craft and cardmaking. A little bit time later I started to create in mixed media technique and it’s my favourite technique today.

My Project

                                                         About project:

I love altered things, because even the broken things and something what looks like a garbage we can change in something nice and beautiful.  I decided to change old can in something new – container on brushes or pens. I chosen a black color and a little metallic finish. For main decoration I chosen dragonfly.

Instructions:

1. I took old can. I had a can of peas.

2. I covered all can with two layers black gesso. Next I mixed black gesso with magic powder getting in this way a black modelling paste. I added a pattern from stencil with this paste.

3. I added  first  layer embellishments. I glued a twine and metallic embellishments. In next step I covered all with black gesso. On this layer I added next embellishments and I painted every next element with black gesso.

4. I’ve made three different colors of wax mixing together clear wax and shiny powders. The last step was to finish the project by adding waxes in three colors: lustered black, red bronze and shimmer mauve. I added waxes only on the embellishments which allowed to highlight all details.”

April Challenge Inspiration - DT Vidhi Jadeja

Vidhi here with you today.

I'm so happy to inspire you all with a tutorial inspired my moodboard. We have received some beautiful entries so far and expecting a lot more..

There is still a few days left to enter our challenge. Do enter to win a lot of prizes...

So, here is my project and I'm inspired by the left side pictures of the moodboard.

I made an  altered frame from an old wooden clock. The Light bulb is my focal point and I just loved it how it turned out...

Let begin with the procedure of how I created it...

Step 1: I removed all parts and dial of the watch first, just kept a wooden frame. After that, I did one whole on the frame to hang a bulb through a rope. I created a rough texture on the frame with stone effect paste and glued some cheesecloth on it.

Step 2: I applied black gesso to the entire frame as a base to prime the surface. Now its time to add elements on the frame. Placed some MDF chipboards, Prima moulds from clay here and there. When I am satisfied with the placement glued all the elements on the frame.

Step 3: After that again I gave a coat of black gesso on all the elements. Now it's ready to colour the frame. Used Finnabair's rust pastes to give a vintage and rustic look. I started with dark shades to the lighter shades to highlight the elements.

Step 4: When I loved the outcome of rust pastes on the elements I stopped and used the beautiful Vintage Gold shade of  Wax from Finnabair to highlight my elements. They gave a perfect shine to the mix media projects.

Step 5: Last step is to colour the bulb. I used the yellow shade from the mood board and colour it with spray. When it's ready, I tied the knot with string in it and hanged it through the whole from the frame. It's ready !!!

See what I want to tell you ... It's all about the IDEA...so start thinking and creating it. You will have fun in the end. Hope you guys like it...
